A busy couple of weeks of approvals. Firstly, Melton Borough Council have resolved to grant consent to Davidsons’ outline application for 175 dwellings on their site in Melton. Part of the Southern Sustainable Neighbourhood, allocated in the Local Plan, the site will be directly served from a new five arm roundabout on Burton Road, at the end of the soon to open Melton Mowbray Distributor Road. The roundabout has been built with two stubs, one to be the access to the Southern Sustainable Neighbourhood, the second to be the continuation of the MMDR to the south of that neighbourhood to join with Leicester Road further west. The planning application for 175 dwellings was submitted in 2015, with a roundabout designed by us that was subsequently taken up by Leicestershire County Council and their designers before being built by Galliford Try. So it is pleasing to see an approval and a significant step forward in the development at Melton South.
