We are pleased to report that Bellway’s appeal against refusal of their 300 dwelling application at Ashland Road West in Sutton in Ashfield has been allowed on appeal. The outline application was submitted on 6 March 2020, at the start of the first lockdown. It was supported by our Transport Assessment, and despite pre-application scoping, we were asked to examine the traffic impacts at additional junctions, 14 in total. With no existing traffic counts, and the inability to carry out new counts because of the lockdown, the assessment process was extremely difficult. Nevertheless, through discussions with Nottinghamshire County Council, we resolved matters and highways was not a reason for refusal. The difficulties will stick long in the memory, and for that reason it is all the more pleasing to see Bellway’s efforts rewarded with consent.
