Charnwood Borough Council’s Plans Committee have approved the Broadnook Garden Suburb, 8-0. The hybrid application for 1,950 homes plus employment, local centre, country park, primary school, care village, etc, was submitted in 2016. Just north of the A46/A6 junction at Birstall, our work included resolving transport issues, through extensive dialogue with Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council and Highways England. Various elements of the application were in detail, including 193 houses, for which we designed the highway layout and its connection back to the A6 access junction. Our next task is gaining technical approval of the S278 works, and the on-site ground works, roads and drainage.
