Northampton Borough Council have recently approved an outline planning application by Newlands Developments for the redevelopment of the Howdens Joinery site in Brackmills, Northampton. The proposals involved the demolition of the existing circa 1 million sqft building onsite, and the redevelopment of the site to provide new modern warehouse and distribution units.
The site is close to the Hardingstone Dyke and is at risk from surface water flooding. We devised a surface water strategy, in conjunction with the LLFA and Anglian Water, that sought to utilise the existing private drainage network and store runoff in a series of below ground tanks, so to minimise the risk of flooding offsite.
We also provided transport advice and prepared the Transport Statement and Framework Travel Plan that accompanied the planning application. We are now retained to provide transport advice on the reserved matters planning application and associated S278 site access works.
