Stuart had a very enjoyable afternoon on Friday attending the official launch of the rail freight interchange at SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway. The rail freight interchange forms part of the £100 million infrastructure investment by SEGRO at the East Midlands Gateway site. The rail interchange will facilitate modal transfer from road freight to rail freight, helping to reduce carbon emissions. The interchange was opened by Chris Heaton-Harris MP, Minster of State at the Department for Transport, David Sleath, Chief Executive of SEGRO, and John Williams, Executive Chairman of Maritime. Stuart authored the Transport Assessment and was part of the team that secured the Development Consent Order back in 2016 for this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. ADC have since provided ongoing transport advice during the site build out, including work to support the proposals for Maritime’s flagship headquarters to be located at the rail freight interchange. So, it is very gratifying to see this important component of the site officially open.
