Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire – Approved

We are pleased to report that the outline planning application for 91 residential dwellings at Sutton Courtenay was unanimously approved at Planning Committee last night.  The site has a complex planning history and was most recently Phase 2 of a extant planning consent for a larger development to be accessed from an adjacent development plot. The key part of our work, undertaken on behalf of The Granite Partnership, was to agree with the highway authority a new permanent access for the Phase 2 site directly onto Appleford Road, thereby avoiding the need for reliance on the adjacent development plot.

We are delighted to report planning consent granted to Tungsten Properties for the 258,000sqft Super G employment unit at Glasshoughton near Wakefield.  Our transport planning advice examined the differing traffic impacts on the local highway, including the nearby M62 junction, depending on whether the unit was occupied by B8, B2, or B1c users.

Despite officer’s recommendation for refusal, at the June committee meeting, Newark & Sherwood District Councillors resolved to grant a redevelopment of land at the existing Harrison’s car showroom on Southwell Road in Lowdham. Our transport advice supported the proposed convenience store, coffee shop and relocation of the Gonaldston Farm shop.

Aero Fabrications are a local success story, established by the Hucknall born Neil Gouldby in 1983.  They specialise in the manufacture of precision fabricated details and assemblies for the aerospace industry.  The company has sites in Watnall and Moorgreen and needs more space to fulfil contracts to manufacture parts for a fleet of F35 fighter jets for the US and UK airforces.

ADC Infrastructure supported their planning application to build a large new unit on a green belt site adjacent to, and linked with, their current site on the Common Lane industrial estate.  We provided a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan, drainage strategy, and advice on utilities and groundworks.

Despite considerable opposition, Broxtowe Borough Council resolved to grant permission, 11 in favour and 1 against.  We now wait to see if the Secretary of State decides to call in the application.

approval – a new Co-op for Beeston

Broxtowe Borough Council have approved the joint planning application by Peveril Homes and Charterpoint Developments for a mixed use scheme close to Beeston town centre.  The scheme includes a Central England Co-op Food Store plus 32 houses and 15 apartments on part of the former Myford works site on High Road.  The application was supported by our Transport Assessment.  It follows an earlier successful planning application for a road to the south that had complicated land ownership issues.  We have since gained Technical Approval for the detailed design of the road. consent – All Saints

Leicester City Council have approved the £50m regeneration scheme in the centre of Leicester proposed by All Saints (Leicester).  The scheme provides 73 flats across four to seven storeys on derelict land between Great Central Street, Highcross Street, and All Saints Open.

The scheme will include a basement level with 21 car parking spaces and a roof terrace on the sixth floor.  Our Transport Statement provided comprehensive analysis of the parking demand and the spare capacity in the surrounding area to prove that 21 spaces would be sufficient.  CGI by MAA Architects.
