In September 2018 both Nottinghamshire Police and the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service agreed to develop plans for a shared headquarters at the existing police headquarters at Sherwood Lodge, north of Nottingham. On 5 December 2019, Gedling Borough Council granted consent to their plans. Our initial work examined current operations and found that although there are 350 parking spaces, that fell short of the demand for 450 spaces. The development proposals would require an additional 450 spaces. To assist the masterplanning, we therefore designed additional parking areas, internal roads and circulation space. Our subsequent Transport Assessment assessed the ability of the local roads to accommodate the higher traffic flows, and we designed an improvement scheme for the A60/Burntstump Hill junction.
