Cinderhill appointment

We are grateful for our continuing appointment as part of Harworth’s team to help promote the Cinderhill site near Denby in Derbyshire.  The mixed use proposal includes 3,000 houses, 12ha of employment land, plus a new junction on the A38 trunk road.  The site is in Amber Valley’s Draft Local Plan and the next step is to persaude the examination in public Inspector that the site is deliverable.  To that aim, Harworth have begun a public consultation exercise – details here:

S278 technical approval

Our design of the off-site highway works on the A4304 Main Street in Lubenham have been granted Technical Approval by Leicestershire County Council.  The works comprise the access T-junction, a pedestrian refuge and localised widening of the A4304, plus adjustments to the adjacent bus stop.  We are also designing the Section 38 on-site highway and drainage works and assisting Grace Homes take the construction forward.

seaside cinema – Scarborough

The Borough of Scarborough have granted consent to a mixed use redevelopment of a tired town centre retail block in Scarborough.  The ground floor is retained but converted in to five restaurant units, while the upper floors are taken away and replaced by a new 6 screen cinema.  For us the challenges are all in the detail, resolving on-street deliveries and suitable pedestrian routes.  Plus there is the complex assessment of the amount of traffic generated by the proposed use, compared with the existing use, also taking in to account the potential for linked trips, and different peak times.  And, on a site with no car parking, an analysis of the many local car parks and their spare capacity on a February and August weekday and weekend.
